Obituary for Richard "Dickie" Joaquin

Richard “Dickie” Joaquin, 72 of Kahului, passed away on January 7, 2019. He was born on January 25, 1946 in Paia, Maui.
Visitation 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Ballard Family Mortuary, service 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Maui Veterans Cemetery at 1 p.m.
Richard was a graduate of Baldwin High School. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. After retiring from Hawaiian Tel as a cable splicer manager, he worked for Allens Plumbing as a dispatcher and was a hiker on weekends for Avis/Budget. Richard’s pride and joy was his family and there is nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his loved ones. He also spent many years coaching youth soccer and baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Francine “Candy” Joaquin; sons, Scott (Nicole) Joaquin, and Jonathan “J” (Tia) Joaquin; daughter Nicole (Joe) Joaquin-Foster; grandchildren, Taylissa (Cory) Lehano, Tiani Joaquin-Foster, Ariyanna Joaquin, Tyra (Chandler) Wade, Taj Joaquin, and Japheth Joaquin; great-grandchildren, Ryla Lehano, and Hunter Thyne; brother, Thomas (Marlene) Joaquin; and sister, Sandi (Terry) Gusman; in-laws Sedring and Katherine Bulda.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Pauline Joaquin.
