Obituary for Tamaru Horikami

Tamaru Horikami, 91, of Lahaina, Maui, passed away at home on August 13, 2019. He was born on April 20, 1928 in Honokowai, Maui, to Sueguma and Kayo Horikami.

As a retired US Postal Service mail carrier, he enjoyed the outdoors as well as conversing with his customers. Family and friends often enjoyed fresh produce from his home garden and fruit trees which he so freely shared.

Tamaru is survived by sons Melvin (Sheryl) Horikami of Honolulu, HI, and David (Lynelle) Horikami of Flower Mound, TX; daughters Cynthia Riggs of Flower Mound, TX, and Colleen (Sheldon) Sircable of Mapleton, UT; sister Harriett Wagner of Lahaina; brother Masayuki (Mary Jane) Horikami of Honolulu, HI; 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Public viewing will be held on September 14, 2019 from 8:30am to 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 85 Ulupono Street, Lahaina, with services to follow. Aloha attire is requested. Burial will be held at Maui Memorial Park Cemetery (Maui View) at 2:00 p.m. located at 450 Waiale Rd. Wailuku.
