Dennis “Danny” Alfred Mateo Sr., 68, of Pukalani, Maui, passed away on September
24, 2019 at Maui Memorial Medical Center in the company of his family and close friends. He was born on August 21, 1951, in Puʻunene, Maui.
Danny graduated from St. Anthony School in 1970. He served as a Maui County Council Member from Molokaʻi for 12 years, 8 of those years as the Council Chair. He recently retired as County Clerk. He is predeceased by mother, Nora Lopes; father, Vicente Mateo; brothers, Gilbert Mateo, Ernest Leong; and sister, Beverly Richardson. He is survived by his wife Clarissa Mateo; son, Dennis “Kaneala” Mateo Jr. (Sarita); daughters Heidi Tomas (Reynaldo),
Noralyn Koahou (Gary), and Tiara Mateo; sisters, Norma Leite (Fred), Janet
Fernandez (Toby), Ludy Garcia (Frank), Marie Souza (Stanley); 16
grandchildren, Kaulana, Alyssa, Jayden, Marcus, Ikaika-Rey, Nahe, Tiani, Nalu, Daniel
Hoʻokele, Troy, Tayjah, Kayana, Keileah, Keziah, Kahanu. Numerous Nieces & Nephews.
Family visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m., Public at 10:00 a.m., Memorial service will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at Ballard Family Mortuary.
Cremation to follow.
