Obituary for Leone "Miss P" Mary-Ann Leinani Purugganan

Leone Mary-Ann Leinani Purugganan, 79, of Wailuku, Maui, peacefully passed away on January 19, 2020, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. She was born on November 18, 1940, in Wailuku to Manuela “Manuela Boy” Rodrigues and Josephine Mary-Ann Kuloloia Canto, both predeceased.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 5:30 p.m. with service to follow at 8:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kahului Hawaii Stake located at 125 W. Kamehameha Ave in Kahului.
The burial will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao followed by lunch at the church in Kahului.

Leone, also known as “Miss P”, was a retired Recreation Leader at the County of Maui Parks & Recreation Department where she spent most of her years serving the youth in the after school and summer fun programs. Leone loved arts & crafts, singing karaoke, and enjoying time with family. She was also a member of the Central Maui Hawaiian Civic Club.

She is survived by her loving husband, Frank Purugganan; her daughter, Leila (Francis) Maddela; her son, Lyle (Karen) Purugganan and her grandchildren, Isaiah, Leah, Levi, Kalena, and Kawai. She is also survived by her brother, Rodney (Betty) Rodrigues; sister, Darlene “Lani” Canto; and nieces, Ediann (Ernie) Sanchez, Johnlyn Rodrigues (predeceased), Ronnette (Jerry) Painter, and Rynee “Aka” (David) Bukoski along with their children.
