Karl was a strong and determined man...no doubt you have all inherited his strength to keep waking up each day and make your future one he would be proud of. I have known Karl since 1978, first as one who purchased from H&W, then as an employee for over 22 years. We didn't always get along, but I think there was mutual respect. He made some very kind gestures over the years toward me and I've never forgotten those kindnesses. I still can't believe he's really gone - he was always so active and full of life. Iwill miss you, my old friend and foil. My deepest sympathies to Robin and the girls. I'll see you on the other side, Boss...

I am sorry to hear the news of Karl's passing. He was well respected as a business person and a friend.

I haven't seen Karl for years but I worked with Karl and his father Ken in the 70's at H&W Distributors. Karl was just out of college but even then it was obvious he would be a success. I continued to work in the commercial furniture industry my entire career and have stayed in touch with Karl whenever possible. To his family; I want you to know how well respected Karl was, not only by me, but by everyone in our industry. I, and we, will miss him.

Karl's business acumen was obvious even as a young man. As an employee of H&W I was always treated fairly and enjoyed that part of my working career. It is hard to imagine that he is no longer with us and he will be missed my many who had the opportunity to work with him.

I am truly sorry for your loss but want you to know how much he was respected as a person and a friend.

Family of Karl, Sorry to hear of your loss. I was both terrified and saddened by the news of Karl's death. I ride my bicycle to and from work every day from Wailuku to Kihei and take Pi'Ilani highway just about every time. Though I never met Karl, we shared the same road and the same risks so I feel it is my duty to reach out to his family and express my condolences. From what I have read of Karl's cycling, it sounds as though he was a good steward of the sport and of cycling as a means of transportation--his presence on the road will be missed. When I ride my bicycle to work today, I will be thinking of him.
