Obituary for William "Papa Willy" Acain

William “Papa Willy” Acain, 80, of Pukalani passed away peacefully under the care of Islands Hospice at his home surrounded by his loving family on May 13, 2019.
He was born on July 11, 1938 in Paia, Maui and was the 7th out of 13 children; seven boys and six girls. At an early age he worked for Endo Painting and in his later years worked for March Painting until his retirement at the age of 70. He was dedicated to his work and often came home with painting equipment that needed to be fixed. He was a very patient person and in time passed on his ability to fix things to some of his children and grandchildren.
William loved the ocean and in his spare time would go diving, shoreline fishing, but he spent most of his time bottom fishing. He was a kind and soft spoken person that never said no to anyone needing help and always cared deeply for his family. He will be missed, but our faith tells us that we will be together again someday. We will cherish the loving memories we have had with him until we meet again. William was predeceased by his parents Mamerto and Julia Acain, brothers Leroy Acain, Richard Acain, Joseph Acain, and his sister, Sister Julia Marie Acain, CSJ and his son Michael Acain. He is survived by his wife Ynez (Peewee) Acain, his brothers Edward Acain, John (Leilani) Acain, Anthony (Norma) Acain, George (Dawn) Delara, his sisters, Myrna (Paul) Ham, Lucy Acain, Sister Catherine Anthony, CSJ, Jane Leong, Catherine (Burton) Tsue, and his children, William (Ada) Acain, Anthony (Lynda) Acain, Annette Lorelei (Bobbie) Acain, Dennis Acain, and Crystal Acain. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, and 8 Great-Grandchildren.
Services will be held at St. Joseph Church in Makawao on Tuesday May 28, 2019.Visitation will begin at 9 am with Catholic Mass starting at 11 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery on the grounds of the church.
