Akiwo S. Dumakilewe, 73, of Hilo, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his residence. Akiwo was born on November 17, 1942 in Pohnpei. He retired as a Seafood Handler for Suisan Company, Ltd.. Services to be held at Ballard Family Mortuary-Hilo on Friday, December 2, 2016. Visitation starts at 10:00am, service at 11:00am. Scattering of his Cremated Remains at 11:00am on Saturday, November 3, 2016 at Bay Front followed by Celebration of Life at Reed’s Bay. He is survived by his hanai son Brian (Saioleen) Duiai of Pohnpei; hanai daughter Desihna (Abiut) John of Oregon; sister Sita (Carlos) Gonzales of Hilo; hanai sister Serenia Kaipas of Pohnpei and Simer (Stiwan) Duiai of Pohnpei; grandsons John Duiai, Rayson Duiai and Mylani Dumakilewe; granddaughter Tisha John of Oregon; caregive, nephew Denver Lickaneth of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
